Frequently Asked Questions

I have gold and family stones, can you reuse them?

We only work with Fairmined ethical gold. To guarantee the traceability of our jewelry, we cannot use precious metals from other sources.

We will be able to guide you if you wish to sell your gold to a specialist.

On the other hand, we can reuse your stones and set them on a piece of jewelry made of Fairmined gold 750/1000 18 carats.

We invite you to make an appointment in our store where we will be happy to create a custom-made model with you to enhance your stones

Can I change my gold color if I don't like it?

To help you in your choice, we invite you to consult the pages of our site dedicated to the five colors of gold 750/1000 Fairmined that we offer. You will find a description as well as the characteristics of each of our alloys: this will help you make your choice in an enlightened way.

If you order online, you have of course the right of withdrawal of 14 days if the color of your jewelry does not bring you complete satisfaction.

What is the most comfortable ring shape to wear?

All of our rings have a comfort interior, which means that the inside of our rings is slightly domed, making the ring very comfortable to wear and easier to put on and take off. It also lets air circulate to ensure optimal comfort, even in hot weather. So whether you choose a flat or a domed ring is primarily a matter of taste.

Do both grooms have to have the same wedding ring?

Feel free to choose or not the same wedding rings for each other, to opt or not for the same metal, to take a wedding ring with stones that does not correspond to a "classic" wedding ring. Go for what suits you.

Can I add stones on my jewel afterwards ?

The setting of stones can only be done on a ring that is thicker than a classic ring. It is therefore necessary to specify at the time of your appointment in the store that you wish to have stones added afterwards.

I have fallen for a model from another brand, can you make it in ethical gold?

For reasons of ethics and loyalty to our competitors, we cannot reproduce models designed by other craftsmen, even if they do not work with Fairmined gold. However, we invite you to come and discover our models and to benefit from our advice in order to, why not, create a custom-made Paulette à Bicyclette jewel that meets your expectations.

How does the settlement work?

To start manufacturing your order, we ask for a minimum deposit of 80%, which can be paid in-store by credit card, cheque or cash, or remotely by bank transfer or credit card over the phone, by contacting us on 09 81 03 66 67.

The balance will be paid when your order is ready, either in store when you come to pick it up, or before shipping if you want one.

How do I get an invoice?

Your invoice will be sent to you when your order is fully paid. You can also obtain a duplicate by simple request by email at bonjour@pauletteabicyclette.com or by phone at 09 81 03 66 67.

Do you make 9, 10 or 14 karat gold jewelry?

The 14 carat gold and the 9 carat gold do not hold up well over time, because of their lower composition in gold. In order to guarantee you an optimal durability of your Paulette à Bicyclette jewels, we have chosen to work only with gold 750/1000 (18 carats), the best alloy for the jewelry, because it is perfectly balanced in flexibility and resistance.

Are gold colors durable over time?

The yellow, pink-champagne, red and white gold palladium 750/1000 are stable over time because they are alloys. They do not require any particular maintenance.

Our white gold 750/1000 jewelry is made of white gold palladium 750/1000 that we pass through a rhodium bath to give them their white color. This is an operation that you will have to repeat from time to time.

Will my jewel be as shown in the photos?

Each piece of jewelry is unique, handmade by our jewelers. As they are not machined, our jewels cannot be perfectly identical.

However, as soon as they leave the workshop and before they are given to you, they undergo a drastic quality control to ensure that they conform to the characteristics of the model and to your expectations.

If you order one of our one-of-a-kind pieces, it will look exactly like the picture on the website.

What are the marks on my ring?

On your jewelry Paulette à Bicyclette shaped in our workshop, you can observe one or two small marks: the punches.

If you wish to know more about our punches, we invite you to discover the "punching" step of our "manufacturing steps" page.

Is it possible to readjust the size of my ring?

Most of our models can be cut by more or less two sizes. However, beware of models set with stones, which are more restrictive and leave less room for maneuver. We therefore advise you to make sure of your finger size before ordering.

For this sizing, we invite you to contact us to make an appointment in our store. You can also send us your ring by letter or insured parcel, at the following address Paulette à Bicyclette 13 rue Paul Bert, 75011 Paris.

We invite you to contact us by email or by phone before any shipment to inform us and to include in the package all the information necessary for the proper conduct of this operation.

Can I have the texture of my jewel changed?

We can touch up the finish (make it more or less matte or glossy), the intensity of the texture (soften it), but we cannot change it completely. Our textures are made to last over time and are therefore mostly deeply marked in the material. Acting on them would cause too much gold to be lost and the reworked jewel would probably no longer meet the standards we set for ourselves in order to guarantee you a quality and durable jewel.

I want to order my wedding ring in advance, can you keep it until my wedding day?

If you wish to recover your jewel later: we propose you our service of guarding. Your jewels will be in our safe deposit boxes. We would be very grateful if, in exchange, you could proceed with the payment of your balance.

Can I get a refund or exchange if I am not satisfied with my jewel?

We always follow the indications given by our customers and written on the order form validated by the latter. If however you are not satisfied with your ring, we invite you to contact us by email at bonjour@pauletteabicyclette.com or by phone at 09 81 03 66 67.

For all online purchases on our website, you have the legal right of withdrawal. You can therefore return to us, by bearing the shipping costs, the jewelry ordered through this means and which are not clearly personalized, within 14 days from receipt. Of course, these jewels must be new and accompanied by their cases and certificates. To learn more about the procedure to follow, we invite you to consult the page dedicated to exchanges and refunds on our website.

Please note, however, that many of our jewelry items are made to order. You may have to wait a few weeks before receiving your new jewel.

Which finish requires the most maintenance? Matte or glossy?

The glossy finish tends to scratch more easily than the matte finish. However, we are at your disposal if you wish to repolish your jewel to give it back all its shine. Please note! It is an operation to be carried out with moderation because polishing causes a tiny loss of gold.

How do I choose my promise ring?

For the undecided or those in a hurry, opt for our promise ring. Choose one of our models available in our Paris or Lyon boutiques and leave with a genuine engagement ring for your proposal. If the ring isn't to your loved one's taste, exchange it for another model or have it custom-made!

Please note that the choice of model is based solely on a selection of specific jewels in stock, depending on the boutique you visit. The models available may vary between the Paris boutique and the Lyon boutique.

Here are our conditions:

- If the jewel is unsuitable or if you wish to exchange it, it must be returned in its original, unworn condition.

- In the event of a return, you have 1 month to exchange your promise ring for another model in our collection, or to have it custom-made.

- If the jewel returns damaged, you'll have to pay €128 to refurbish it. If the ring is in white gold, the cost of rhodium plating is €158.

- If the model of the jewel suits you, but the size is not the right one, we will cover all the sizing costs up to a maximum of one size more or less. Beyond that, additional charges may apply.

- If the price of your new jewel is less than that of the promise ring, we guarantee a refund if the amount is less than €150. Otherwise, a credit note will be issued.

- If you place a video order for your promise ring, shipping costs will be covered. For all exchanges, you will be responsible for return shipping costs.
